Plot
Set in the 1960's, Joe Yabuki (Tomohisa Yamashita) lives in a run low income ara. There, alcholic ex-boxer Danpei Tange (Teruyuki Kagawa) notices Joe Yabuki's talents as a boxer. But then, Joe gets into trouble and is sentenced into the youth detention center. In the youth detention center, Joe meets pro boxer Toru Rikiishi (Yusuke Iseya) who is a champion caliber boxer.

Joe gets special training from Danpei Tange. Joe quickly becomes an elite boxer, particularly with a good cross counter. Finally, Toru gets a chance at the world championship belt. Before that, Toru wants a match with Joe. The two men enter the ring ...


Notes
1. Based on the popular boxing manga "Ashita no Joe" by Asao Takamori & Tetsuya Chiba (first published in 1968).
2. Filming began March 30th and completed early June, 2010.
3. Actor Tomohisa Yamashita began working out a month prior to filming for his role as a boxer. His routine included boxing, physical training, and special diet.
